Marilyn Manson had been a longtime fan of burlesque star Dita von Teese, and the two finally met in 2001. They became friends and were confirmed as a couple following Manson's 32nd birthday, when Dita showed up with a bottle of absinthe. They got engaged in 2004, then were married in a small ceremony in November 2005. They walked down the aisle again days later in front of 60 guests at the Gurteen Castle in Ireland. Dita reportedly left their home empty-handed on Christmas Eve in 2006 and served Manson with divorce papers on his birthday in early January. Dita said in an interview: "I wasn't supportive of his partying or his relationship with another girl."
